The Labosinde endorsed Ògbóni Fraternity worldwide has debunked claims by a factional group parading itself as the true and original leaders of the revered Yoruba group.
The Chairman, Aborigine the Ogboni fraternity of Nigeria, Oluwo Egbelade Omikunmi, while giving the clarity during a press conference held in Ibadan on March 13, 2024.
At the discuss, he affirmed the credibility and originality of the group, calling on the Government, traditional rulers and stakeholders to return to conventional and traditional ways of securing people’s lives and properties.
Oluwo Omikunmi, who faulted adoption of Western cultures among traditional rulers as cause of insecurity in the Yoruba land, charged government to accommodate the three main religions as a means of oath for public office holders.
While describing Ogboni as the way of life, Oluwo Omikunmi revealed that the group which was established in 1824, and registered in 1967 has acquired the authentic Certificate of registration and has paid all annual returns which had earlier been halted from 2004 till date at the Corporate Affairs Commission.
The Chairman, therefore charged other factions of Ogboni, to legally contest the certification of the group, if in doubt, adding that Oba Kazeem Omotoso, is the recognized Oluaye Oba Aborigine of Ogboni fraternity worldwide.
While fielding questions from journalists at the media parley, he berated the unbecoming behaviour of the 21st century kings, tagging it the root cause of some of the aberrations that are been recorded in Yoruba land nowadays.
Aside that, he further condemned the practice of kingmakers who take bribe from individuals who were not rightly chosen to ascend the throne, saying the menace that is witnessed around town will definitely linger on until people learn to follow due process.
Contrary to the belief of many people, the chairman also clarified that the Aborigine Ògbóni Fraternity is purely responsible for helping humans and not for any form of ritual killing.
The event recorded its attendance from Oba Aborigine the Ogboni fraternity, Kwara, Oluwo Tajudeen Babatunde, head of Labosinde family, Oluwo Babatunde Labosinde among other important personalities.
