A Kano Shari’ah court sitting at the Kano State Hisbah Board has sentenced eight men to three months in prison for wearing female clothes and dancing like women.
LIB reported that the suspects were arrested during a wedding at Kofar Waika in Gwale Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
They had pleaded guilty to the charges and pleaded for mercy.
The Khadi, Mallam Sani Tamim Sani Hausawa, sentenced each of them to three months with an option of N10,000 fine each and ordered that they should be given 10 lashes of the cane each.
The public flogging was carried out at the premises of the Hisbarh Board on Tuesday.
Reacting to the judgment, the Deputy Commandant General, Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujahiddin Aminuddin Abubakar, said the board will not allow illicit behaviour in the state.
