Barely hours after Tesla Inc. CEO, Elon Musk was named the richest man in the world, the man himself has taken to Twitter to share his thoughts, and it has come as a ‘strange’ reaction. The billionaire has also revealed plans as to how he will share his wealth including building a city on Mars.
After an impressive increase in Tesla’s share price, Elon Musk surpassed Amazon’s owner, Jeff Bezos, in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and was therefore declared the planet’s richest man.
Bezos has held the position for almost four years, but a massive urge in Musk’s worth in 2020 was enough to make the latter occupy the number 1 position.
However, the SpaceX Founder did not find the news to be very interesting but instead said he was getting back to work.
Replying to a tweet that stated the news, Elon Musk said:
“Well, back to work..”
The American, Canadian, and South African now has an estimated net worth of $185 Billion as per CNBC. After the announcement, Musk has moved to announce plans on how he plans to spend his wealth with one of them being a plan to build a city on Mars.
Elon Musk, the new richest man in the world had this to say:
“About half my money is intended to help problems on Earth & half to help establish a self-sustaining city on Mars to ensure continuation of life (of all species) in case Earth gets hit by a meteor like the dinosaurs or WW3 happens & we destroy ourselves.”
In late morning trading, Tesla’s shares surged 6.3 per cent to $803.78, lifting its market capitalization over $750 billion. Elon Musk, the owner of the company, holds almost 21% of Tesla’s shares.
