Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has advised Victor Osimhen to consider a move to the Saudi Pro League, suggesting it would be a financially wise decision.
Osimhen’s future remains uncertain after Napoli reportedly rejected a €75 million offer from Turkish champions Galatasaray. The Nigerian forward has been in sensational form, scoring 37 goals in 41 appearances during his loan spell with the club, playing a key role in their recent success.
Despite his stellar performance and the club’s eagerness to retain him, Osimhen’s next move remains unclear.
Reacting to the situation, Ighalo, in an interview with Echo Room, encouraged Osimhen to prioritize financial gain by joining the Saudi League before returning to Europe later in his career.
“My advice to Victor Osimhen is to go to Saudi Arabia for two years to make money. Then he can come back to Europe,” Ighalo said.
The former Manchester United striker drew from his own experience, having moved to the Chinese Super League before securing a surprise return to Europe with Manchester United at age 30.
“I went to China for three years, then returned to play for Manchester United. All odds were against me at the time—I was 30 years old.
“Victor Osimhen is 26. In two years, he’ll be 28. He can still play in Europe for another five years if he wants.”
Ighalo’s comments reflect the growing trend of top players choosing the Saudi League for its lucrative contracts before making a return to European football.
