2023 Women’s World Cup: Reggae Girls of Jamaica knock out tournament favourites Brazil to reach Last 16 (Photos/Videos)
In a shocking turn of events, Jamaica defied the odds to knock out Brazil from the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup following a 0-0 draw in Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon, August 2.
Brazil dominated proceedings for a larger part of the contest but failed to breach the Jamaican defence which was sturdy and well-regimented.

Legendary Brazil forward, Marta started the game . She was aiming to become the first player (either male or female) to score in six World Cups but the game for her ended in the 81st minute after she was substituted with Jamaica surviving the remaining minutes to secure their place in history.

Jamaica joined Switzerland and Japan as one of just three nations yet to concede a goal at Australia & New Zealand 2023.
Jamaica also made history as the first Caribbean nation to reach the Round of 16 in the history of the competition.
