Manchester United have endured a tough start to the new season, languishing on 15th position with only 1 point taken from home this season. This is their worst start to the season at home in the club’s history. Reports claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on the verge of being replaced by Manchester United with Mauricio Pochettino being lined up.
Following another shocking defeat to Turkish side, Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday night, Solskjaer was quizzed about rumours of him losing his job soon amidst reports that Manchester United have already contacted former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The 47-year-old tactician declined to make any comments when asked. Sunsport quoted Ole saying:
“I decline to comment. It is early and opinions are out there all the time. “I have got to stay strong. I am employed by the club to do a job and will do it to the best of my ability,” he added.
If Solskjaer is sacked, Manchester United could replace him with Argentine boss, Mauricio Pochettino.
United were surprisingly beaten by Istanbul Basaksehir in what was the Turkish club’s first Champions League victory in their history.
The loss would be the Manchester club’s second consecutive defeat after handing Arsenal their first victory at Old Trafford the weekend before.
Mauricio Pochettino has been out of work since being sacked by Tottenham Hotspurs and replaced by Jose Mourinho. Reports claim Manchester United have approached him if he would be interested in taking over at the club.
The report further states Manchester United retain trust in Solskjaer, but are making contingency plans in case the poor results continue.
