Ryan Mason who was put in caretaker charge could not finish the season beyond 7th place as Spurs settle for a place in the UEFA Conference League which debuts next season. Tottenham had initially made Leicester boss Brendan Rogers their top target after Julian Nagelsman agreed to take the Bayern Munich hot seat.

Spurs Chairman, Dan Levy also attempted to bring back Mauricio Pochettino without success. Pochettino was rumoured to be interested in a return to Tottenham, but with PSG unwilling to let him go, the club have turned their attention to the former boss of arch rivals, Chelsea in Antonio Conte.

The 51-year-old boss guided Inter Milan to their first Serie A win since 2010, but left after two seasons due to being unhappy with the club’s owner’s unwillingness to back him in the upcoming transfer window. Inter who are still trying to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic are understood to be in serious debt and may even be forced to sell star striker, Romelu Luakaku.

Should Conte take the Spurs job, he is understood to be interested in bringing Fabio Paratici into the role of Director of Football after the pair’s successful work together at Juventus. Conte previously won the Premier League and the FA Cup during his two-year spell at Chelsea.
