Iheanacho has now been nominated for Europa League Player of the Week but will have to battle it out with three other players who are also in contention for the prize.

Benfica’s Darwin Nunez is a strong rival after a strong showing in his club’s 4-2 away win of Lech which saw him net a hat-trick.

Lille’s Yusuf Yacizi will also be hoping to win after bagging a hat-trick himself in his club’s 4-1 away victory of Salvia Prague.

Rounding off the list of nominees is Japanese playmaker, Takefusa Kubo who scored a goal and laid off two other assist in a goal thriller which saw Villarreal record a hugely impressive 5-3 victory over Turkish side, Sivasspor on Thursday night.

With Iheanacho up against some players who had very good performances in the Europa League, it remains to be seen whether he will cop the prize. The Nigerian is behind English striker, Jamie Vardy in Brendan Roger’s striking options at Leicester City.
