Nigerian musician, Omah Lay has been arrested and is still under Ugandan Police custody according to reports.
The young artiste reportedly performed yesterday, December 12 at an event tagged “The Big Brunch,” which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda.
Ugandan journalist, Canary Mugume broke the news of the arrest via a tweet today, Sunday December 13, 2020.
Mugume in a tweet at about 4:19PM wrote: “Just in: Nigerian Artist Omah lay has been arrested by Katwe police, together with the manager of the venue where he performed from last night; Dungu Ivan and the Events manager Prim Kasana, all are in custody, @Lukowoyesigyire confirms.”
He allegedly confirmed the news from Luk Owoyesigyire, the Assistant Superintendent of Police and Deputy Police Spokesperson, Kampala Metropolitan Police.
It is still unclear why the KeyQaad and Warner Music artiste has been arrested by Ugandan authorities, but he is not the only one under custody according to the report. The arrest is also thought to be connected with the show where he performed in yesterday.
Omah Lay has been Nigeria’s revelation of 2020 with a magnificent breakout year filled with many bangers and two wonderful EPs. The two projects which he named Get Layd and What Have We Done has been doing impressive numbers in Nigerian charts. The PortHarcourt-bred musician is also the favourite to be crowned The Next Rated artiste at the forthcoming 2020 Headies Awards.
