EPL 2020/2021: All the Deadline Day Transfers


The English Premier League transfer window ended on Monday 5th October with mixed feelings from various fans. There were several deadline day transfers which you might have missed.

Manchester United, Arsenal, and Everton are some of the high profile teams who saw incomings and outgoings on deadline day.

Here is a breakdown of who bought who as clubs gear up to face the season fully. However, the local English window is still open and clubs in the league can still make internal transfers.

The biggest of the deadline day transfers came from Arsenal as they triggered the 45 million Pounds release clause of Atletico Madrid’s defensive midfielder, Thomas Partey.

The Ghanaian midfielder has been linked with a move to the North London side all summer, and he finally got his move in the eleventh hour.

Manchester United also completed deals for an astonishing four players after buying only Donny Van De Beek from Ajax side all summer.

Uruguayan duo, Edinson Cavani and Facundo Pellestri joined Brazilian left back, Alex Telles in making the switch to Old Trafford.

The club also signed young Ivorian winger, Amad Diallo in 45 million Euros deal, including addons. The 18-year-old will, however, join in January due to work permit issues.

Chelsea also had an outgoing with Tiemoue Bakayoko re-joining Gennaro Gattuso in Napoli. Arsenal duo Matteo Guendozi and Lucas torreira also left the club on loan to German side Hoffenheim and Spanish club, Atletico Madrid respectively after falling down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta.

The window received mixed feelings with Manchester United fans being the most aggrieved of the lot. The club failing to get their top transfer target, Jadon Sancho tops the reasons for their dissatisfaction. There have also been calls for Vice Chairman, Ed Woodward and owners, the Glazer family to leave.

Arsenal fans were largely satisfied with the Thomas Partey deal being their sole transfer dealing of the day.

The league begins immediately after the international break on October 17.
