Burna Boy keeps going, and now new heights have been reached after it was confirmed he has broken a record on America’s most prestigious music chart, The Billboard.
Burna Boy has broken a new record as his ‘Twice as Tall’ album has debuted at number 54 on the Billboard 200 chart. This is a new record for any Nigerian artiste with the closest being Burna, Wizkid, and King Sunny Ade.
Twice as Tall debuting at number 54 beats African Giant’s peak position of 104. Three years before that, Wizkid’s Sounds From The Other Side peaked at No. 107.
Billboard is America’s biggest music chart and Burna Boy’s debut at number 54 gives him and the whole of African music a new and big win.
King Sunny Ade’s JuJu Music album spent 29 weeks on the charts while peaking at No. 111 in 1983.
The accolades keep coming in for Burna Boy’s latest album as he joins Wizkd and King Sunny Ade with this big win. Nigerian music fans will hope he spends a long time on the Billboard chart and reaches as high as possible.
Burna Boy has also been tipped for another Grammy nomination this year and possibly winning the coveted award this year.
